본 연구에서는 학사통계와 조선총독부관보에 실린 1910년부터 1922년까지의 사회적 신분에 관한정보를 분석하여 일제초기 학부형의 사회적 신분에 대한 일반적인 경향과 그 특징을 알아보려고 하였
다.
첫째, 고등보통학교 학부형이 가장 양반 비중이 높고, 다음으로 실업학교, 보통학교, 실업보습학교
순으로 나타났다. 다만 이는 지역을 고려하여 해석되어야 한다. 둘째, 지역을 북선과 남선 지역으로
구분했을 때, 주로 남선 지역으로 볼 수 있는 충청도, 경상북도 전라북도 등에서 양반 비중이 높게 나
타났다. 셋째, 공사립 간에는 보통학교의 경우는 사립학교가 양반 비중이 높은 경향이 있었다. 넷째,
여학생 보다 남학생 학부형의 양반 비중이 높게 나타났다. 다섯째, 종교는 양반 비중에 영향을 미치고
있었다. 초등단계의 교육에서 종교계 각종학교가 양반 비중이 낮은 것으로 나타난다. 여섯째, 보통학
교의 경우, 특히 통감부 시기에 주로 ‘빈민학교’ 내지 상민이 진학하던 상황에서 벗어나 양반들이 많
이 진학하는 상황으로 변화하고 있었다.
본 연구에서는 일제강점기 초기 학교에 어떠한 신분의 학생들이 입학하였는지 전체상을 제시하는
데 주력하였다. 이러한 전체적인 경향을 기반으로 지역별, 종별, 설립별, 남녀별 사례가 축적되면 일제
강점기 사회변동과 신분구조의 변동에 대한 이해는 물론 교육의 변화에 대해 좀 더 분명한 이해가
가능할 것이다.
영어 초록
This paper examines the general trends and the characteristics of school parents' social statusin the early period of Japanese colonial period, analyzing the official gazettes published by the
Japanese Chosen government.
The result of this study are as follows. First, the portion of yangban(aristocrat) as school
parents is the highest in the high school, Following in order are the technical high school,
elementary school and supplementary technical school. Second, the portion of yanban as school
parents is higher in the district of south area in Korea than the district of north area in every
category of education. Third, the portion of yanban as school parents is higher in the private
elementary school than the public elementary school. The private commercial high school had
specially higher proportion of Yangban among the technical high schools. Fourth, the portion of
yanban as school parents is higher in case of the male student than in case of female student.
Fifth, the portion of yanban as school parents is higher in case of non-permitted common school
than in case of the non-permitted religious school. Sixth, On the 1910's, the sons and daughters of
the yanban class entered into the modern school more than the Japanese resident-general
period(1905-1910).
