교육공학 분야에서는 교수-학습 과정에서 커뮤니케이션의 중요성을 강조하고 이를 지원하기 위한 방안에 오랫동안 관심을 기울여왔다. 최근 세계화와 다인종사회, 문화 간 융합과 통합의 시대적 변모와 과학기술의 발전에 따라 커뮤니케이션의 기회가 확대되고 있으며 커뮤니케이션의 중요성도 더욱 커지고 있다. 이에 세계 여러 나라에서 커뮤니케이션 능력을 미래 사회에 필요한 핵심 역량의 하나로 규명하고 이를 기르기 위해 노력을 기울이고 있다.그러나 우리 대학에서 이루어지는 커뮤니케이션 관련 교육 과정은 이론 중심의 교육과정이라는 한계가 있으며, 커뮤니케이션을 주제로 한 교과목들이 사회학, 심리학, 교육학, 신문방송학 등 관련 학문 영역에서 각기 다른 접근으로 산발적으로 운영되고 있다. 특히 최근 역량기반 교육과정에 대한 관심이 높아지면서, 시대변화에 따른 인재의 핵심 역량을 개발해야 한다는 점을 인식하고, 관련 교육과정을 개발할 필요성이 제기되고 있다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 대학생들의 현재 그리고 미래에 필요한 커뮤니케이션 역량은 무엇인지 규명하고자 델파이 연구를 실시하였다. 교육공학, 국어국문학, 신문방송학 등 관련 학문 영역의 전문가들과 기업 인사 및 교육 담당자 등 총 34명을 대상으로 델파이 연구 방법을 통해 의견을 수렴하였다. 본 연구 결과는 대학생들이 현재 갖추어야 할 커뮤니케이션 역량과 미래 사회를 살아가기 위해 필요한 커뮤니케이션 역량으로 나누어 구체적으로 정리되었다. 본 연구를 바탕으로 대학생들의 커뮤니케이션 역량 개발을 위한 다양한 교육과정과 교과목이 개발될 것으로 기대되며, 이와 같은 교육을 위한 효과적이고 효율적인 교수-학습 방안을 모색하는데 본 논고의 의의가 있다 하겠다.

영어 초록

With changes in society and technology, not only the concept of communication but also that ofcommunication competencies has been changed and enlarged. Whereas communication was regarded as talking face to face in the past, it has more varied participants and media beyond time and space, such as real-time or recording, and online or offline. Also, as competency-based education and competency -based curriculum pay attention to ‘knowing-how’ rather than focusing on ‘knowing-that,’ it is necessary to identify and develop communication competencies based on communication theory and practice.This study purports to identify communication competencies for undergraduate students, with a dual focus on both the present and future. For this purpose, a three-round Delphi technique, which is a series of surveys to obtain a consensus of experts in universities and businesses, will be implemented to collect data. Finally, 34 experts are involved in this study.The findings of this research are divided into two parts. One is that the communication competencies for undergraduate students are found to have accurate delivery of content, listening skills, communication ability depending on subjects, and the ability to shape common understanding. The other is that communication competencies for the future include reaching an agreement, communicating using media, communicating inter-culturally, and, listening accurately.Although the experts recognize the importance of competencies, evaluate the communicationcompetencies of undergraduate students at average or below. Based on the findings of this study, a new curriculum for communication competencies that is based on competency-based curriculum needs to be developed. In addition, more effective teaching-learning strategies such as practical training and practices are required. Follow-up research may include developing a behavior index for communication competencies which will evaluate the level and degree of competencies of undergraduate students. Also, competency-based curriculum for communication competencies may be actualized, and the possibilities and limitations in higher education will be examined.Key words : communication competency, competency-based education
