오늘날 생명공학의 발전과 경제발전에 따른 생활수준의 향상은 인간수명을 연장시키는데 이바지 하였다. 반면에 감소하는 출산율과 사망률의 추세를 감안하면 사회전체인구에 대한 노인인구는 급속히 증가할 것으로 전망된다. 최근 발표된 지구촌 인구의 고령화에 관한 보고서에 의하면 2050년에 가서는 60세 이상의 노인 수가 19억을 넘어서 세계인구의 21%가 될 것으로 추정하고 있다(정경희, 1998). 오늘날 이러한 세계적인 현상은 점차 고령화 사회로 진입하는 현대사회의 특징으로 볼 수 있다. 그리고 노령인구의 증가와 더불어 수반되는 다양한 제반문제들은 심각한 사회 문제로 대두대고 있다.

영어 초록

As the society gradually goes into the aging society due to the increase in the average longevity of human beings, the problem of the aged is on the rise as that of the society. According to the psychosocial theory, the task to be developed in the old age is the ego-integration. As assumed the successful result of desirable and successful aging as the achievement of the ego-integration, the purpose of this study was to enhance the ego-integration through the dance/ movement therapy program.
In order to study the effects of the dance/movement therapy program to enhance the ego-integration, this study applied to the old female has been implemented for 16 weeks, twice a week, from Sep.9 to Nov. 1, 2003 at Seoul municipal Sung-Dong social service center. For this study, the ego-integration scale, which is developed by Kim Jung-Soon(1988), was used in order to measure the ego-integration of the aged.
The initial six issues From the number 1 to 6 of this study are about whether the dance/movement therapy program have improve the 6 sub-scale of the ego-integration like the satisfaction of the present life, the wise life, the attitude about life, the acceptance for aging, the acceptance for death, and the acceptance for living. The seventh issue is about how dance/movement therapy program have influenced the total ego-integration of the aged. Before the program was implemented, to estimate the same quality between the experienced group and control group, the analysis by t-test was executed.
The results of this study are as follows:
As the results of the analysis of the pretest and posttest on the change in total of the ego-integration between groups and in the experienced group there were meaningful difference in these groups appeared. Meanwhile, in the control group, no significant change in the total of the ego-integration appeared, which means dance/movement therapy was effective in increasing total of the ego-integration.
Between pretest and posttest for the between groups and in the experienced group about the sub-scale of the ego-integration like the satisfaction of the present life, the wise life, the attitude about life, the acceptance for aging, the acceptance for death, the acceptance for living dance/movement therapy program was effective. Meanwhile, in the control group no significant change in these scales appeared, which means that dance/movement therapy was effective for the sub-scale of the ego-integration.
As the results of this study, dance/movement therapy was effective in improving the ego-integration of the aged. Dance/movement therapy applied to the aged, which was approached in a general point of view, will be helpful and useful program to improve the successful adaptability of the aged and to achieve psychological wellbeing of the aged for the aged roles and status become shrunk in our society.
