1) autonomy: freedom a competent adult has to make personal health care decisions, even if others not agree
ex. AD, informed consent
2) accountability : accepting responsibility for one's action
ex. medication error should be immediately reported to HCP to minimize harm to client
3) fidelity: exhibiting loyalty and fulfilling commitments made to client
meeting expected responsibility of professional nursing, provide basis of accountability
ex. return at time that was promised to honor the commitment made to client
4) nonmaleficence: doing no harm or hurt to client
preventing harm or hurt
protecting clients who are unable to protect themselves(infant, child, dementia)
5) confidentiality: information client shares with nurse is kept in confidence unless permission is given from client
6) veracity: tell the truth
7) justice: treating all clients without bias(fairly)
