1. 실험제목 : Synthesis and purification of Tetraphenylporphyrin & its copper(Ⅱ) complexes
2. 실험목적 : Tetraphenylporphyrin & its copper(Ⅱ) 를 합성하고 Recrystallization을 통해 purification한 후, 이에 대한 UV spectra와 NMR spectrum을 찍고 이들의 분광학적 특성을 안다.
3. 실험설계 및 과정
⑴Synthesis and purification of tetraphenylporphyrin
①propionic acid 40㎖를 RBF와 reflux condenser를 사용하여 적당히 가열하고 식힌다.
=>15~20분 가열한 후, heat로부터 RBF와 reflux condenser를 분리한다.

⑴UV spectrum의 분석 - tetraphenylporphyrin 에서...
=>Tetraphenylporphyrin (TPP)의 molar extinction coefficient는 515nm에서 18,900 M-1Cm-1이다. 그리고 다른 molar extinction coefficient의 값으로 470,000과 370,000M-1Cm-1이 나타난다.
=>우리 실험의 결과로 나타난 peak는 617nm에서 매우 작은 EM의 intensity를 보여준다. 이것은 spin-forbidden transition에 의해 나타나는 peak로 예상할 수 있다.
⑵UV spectrum의 분석 - tetraphenylporphyrin copper(Ⅱ) 에서..
①425nm에서의 peak
=>EM의 값이 1000 ~ 50000의 사이에 있는 것으로 보아 이것은 charge transfer에 의해 나타나는 band임을 알 수 있다. 그리고 ligand가 low lying Pi* orbital을 가지고 있고 특히 aromatic ligand이므로, 이는 metal-ligand charge transfer(MLCT)임을 알 수 있다.
