Why is there a doorman in the condominium?
There is a doorman who says, "Let me get the door for you," when Charlotte and Samantha come into Chalotte`s condominium in Sex and the City Season 1 Episode 3. I was surprised at the fact that there was a doorman in the condominium, not only in the hotel. I wondered why the doorman was in there, what he does, if he is there just for opening the door, and if so, why he is hired.
A doorman is a person whose job is to stay by the main entrance of a large building and help people visiting it. However, the doorman in Sex and the City does various work. The doormen who work in the luxury condominiums in Manhattan do a lot of work such as getting a cab for the residents, carrying luggage, cleaning garbage, sorting mail, and preventing unwanted persons from coming in. Why do they have doormen in New York? Why don`t the rich have doormen in Korea?
