CHAPTER 33-2. Obtain the truth table for the circuit shown if Figure 3-42. Draw an
equivalent circuit for F with fewer NAND gates.
3-4. Find the simplified Boolean Functions for uotputs F and G of the
circuit in Figure 3-44
3-5. Find the truth table for F and G of the circuit in Figure 3-44 by using
logic simulation.
3-11. Design a combinational circuit that detects an error in the representation
of a decimal digit in BCD. In other words, obtain a logic diagram whose
output is equal to 1 when the inputs contain any one of the six unused
bit combinations in the BCD code.
3-34. Perform the indicated subtraction with the following unsigned binary
numbers by taking the 2’s complement of the subtrahend:
(a) 11011 - 10000 (c) 100 - 101000
(b) 10110 - 1011 (d) 1*************
3-35. Perform the arithmetic operations (+52) + (-17) and (-52) - (-17) in
binary using signed-2’s complement representation for negative numbers.
3-36. The following binary number have a sign in the leftmost position and,
if negative, are in 2’s complement form. Perform the indicated arithmetic
operations and verity the answers.
(a) 101111 + 111010 (c) 110001 - 001010
(b) 001010 + 100010 (d) 101010 - 100111
3-38. The adder-subtractor circuit of Fiugure 3-30 has the following values
for input select S and data inputs A and B:
3-45. Perform the indicated subtraction with the following unsigned decimal
numbers by taking the 10’s complement of the subtrahend:
(a) 5678 - 1234 (d) 2048 - 512
3-47. Construct a BCD adder-subtractor using the BCD adder from Figure 3-34
and the 9’s complementer of Problem 3-46(a), as well ad other logic or
functional blocks, as necessary. Use block diagrams for the components,
showing only inputs and outputs where possible.
