First, let's take a look at the theory of tension and compression experiments. So, We must first know about solid mechanics. A solid is one of the phases that a substance can have along with gases and liquids. The greatest characteristic of a solid is that it can maintain its position and shape by itself. Solid mechanics is a science that analyzes the deformation that occurs in a solid when an external force is applied to the solid, such as deformation force, amount of deformation, and stress.
So let's see what kind of transformation is there? Types of deformation include tension, compression, shear, torsion, and bending. Tensile and compression are properties of stretching and shrinking. Shear refers to the property of cutting an object, twisting refers to the property of twisting an object, and bending refers to the property of bending an object. You can study more deeply, but in this experiment, we will only look at the parts related to tensile and compression tests.
