3. The story’s point of view suddenly shifts midway through its telling. What is the narrative point of view in the beginning of the story? In the middle of the story?
4. Becky’s sons are mulattoes not “negroes”. What happens to them? Why do they leave town?
5. Becky lives in a hut on the space between the railroad tracks and the road. What does the railroad track symbolize? Explain the symbolism of the story’s climax, the “Uncanny eclipse!”. How was this moment foreshadowed? How can we interpret the lines: “the ground trembled as a ghost train rumbled by”.

The reason they are linked is because the similar words they use such as ‘smoke curled up from her chimney’, ‘thin wraith of smoke’. We can assume that some ghostly thing is happening in both story and even though the person or the situation is different but the fundamentally thing is about the discrimination about the mixed person.
