The world is fast changing to a global village due to the enhancement of technology, diplomacy, regional and international trade treaties. The trade relationship between the US and Mexico has huge benefits through the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). There has been a substantial improvement in economic integration under NAFTA; one the basis of synchronization of business cycles. Besides, the economic bloc has recorded a significant level of business dependence as most of the produce from Mexico are highly consumed in states such as Texas. According to Helen Deresky, an author of an international management textbook, 85% of Mexico’s exports have gone to the United States, making the Mexican economic cycles very dependent on the American economic behavior. As much as the regional economic blocs present great opportunities, they also harbor some challenges such as drug trafficking and the domination of the U.S over Mexico in what is called the modern day colonization.
