1. Experiments & Goals
In the previous experiment, we checked the diode-like properties of bipolar transistors and the amplification ability of the simple common emitter circuits. In this experiment, we will cover more complicated and difficult circuits that contain more functions and abilities.
The goal of the experiment is to design the circuit on an array of bipolar transistors and to create a mixture of common-mode and differential signals by using two function generators. By using a floating function generator, we can check the output can carry pure common-mode, pure differential, or a mixture of the two. Then, we will check the breadboard function generator driving the center-tap of the transformer secondary. Also, we can find common-mode gain and differential gain. In addition, we can design an operational amplifier by connecting transistors in mirror or using simple sink form.
2. Theories
1) Bipolar Transistors
In its simplest form, the bipolar transistor can be viewed as a voltage-dependent current source.
