Materials Requirements Planning(MRP)
Introduced of MRP in 1960’s by Dr Joseph Orlicky.
It is software based production, planning and inventery control system used to manage the manufacturing process.
Material Requirements Planning (MRP) is a central system in the engine part of MPC.
MRP prepares detailed material plans for the end products in the MPS, producing a set of component parts and materials
The only practical way to provide Material Requirements Planning is by using some type of computerized MRP program. Material Requirements Planning can plan, schedule and reschedule materials as far into the future as required.
