1-1. Language teaching
Over the last two decades, the focus of language teacher education has shifted paradigm from top-down model to bottom-up model.
①Top-down model (competency-based approach)
- Knowledge or skill-driven, competency-based, trainer-centered, prescriptive and judgemental model
↓ 'dilemma'
∵ it failed to provide teachers with an opportunity to reflect on their actions
- stresses transmitting knowledge and skills to trainees
②Bottom-up model (holistic approach)
- a process, developmental collaborative and reflective model
- stresses the development of personal qualities or creativity, judgement and adaptability
