5-Day School Week System in Korea: Is this for Egalitarian Education?
Who will take more advantage of the five-day school week system? There have been many disputes about whether to execute the five-day school week system in Korea for several years as the five-day work week is widely diffused throughout the Korean society. From 2012, the five-day school week system of elementary and secondary school in Korea finally began to be fully carried out. Since it has come into effect quite recently, a lot of studies are in progress to grasp the effect of the five-day school week system on the Korean society in terms of educational and social equality. In my point of view, however, this policy would accelerate social polarization in the Korean society.
