Since the global financial crisis in 2008, many Americans have lost their jobs andtheir healthcare insurance benefits. People have seen their healthcare cost/premium of insurance rise faster than their annual pay increases. Even so, the demand for health care is rising, and people do not want to postpone medical treatment, health care, and surgery despite the rising cost of health care. Therefore, hospitals have traditionally been quite profitable, with many establishingvirtual monopolies in their geographic areas. However, patients are rapidly changing their behaviors when it comes to choosing health care providers. While the primary focus is to find specialized professional physicians and hospitals, patients are now doing researchbackground about hospitals’ brand image, advanced medical equipment, convenient location, friendly environment<중 략>
Although the prospect of growth is high in the global markets,the legal and regulatory environments that vary widely from country to country can become an issue and lead to increased operating costs. Furthermore, an aggressive expansion into multiple countries can lead to business operations nightmares and could cost the Cleveland Clinic a lot of time and money to centralize the control systems. Therefore itmust think creatively with full due diligence whendevelopinga plan for a strategic expansion globally. The top prioritiesshould be quality measures, controls, and metrics to ensure consistent operations domestically and globally. In addition, the Cleveland Clinic should focus on itswell-known institutes’ areas such as heart and vascular, urological and kidney, and cancer, while continually leadingthe performance of public reporting programs, value-based health care deliveries, and electronic medical records as well.
