As a student who major in theater, I have seen and read numerous plays that describe the people with poor background succeed at the end. Is it the case all the time? We certainly know that the good/poor characters don’t always win at the end in reality. However, we feel sense of substitute satisfaction by reading those plays even though it’s somewhat a cliché. Ironically, Woyzeck, the play written by Georg Buchner, completely contradicts the main theme of most plays, which hard working poor protagonist wins at the end. Woyzeck is involved in lower class, which is different from nobles, intellectuals, or wealthy citizens. The class where Woyzeck stands is disregarded, suppressed and enforced by the higher classes, and his power, freedom, even love is being controlled and affected by them.
