본 연구의 목적은 일반 고등학교에 재학 중인 장애자녀를 둔 부모들의 전환교육에 대한 인지 정도, 자녀들이 고등학교를 졸업한 이후 전환성과로서 희망하는 진로 및 거주형태, 고등학교에서 실시되고 있는 전환교육
프로그램의 내용별 필요성 정도에 대한 인식, 그리고 전환성과 향상을 위한 부모의 요구 사항을 파악해 보고
자 하는 것이었다. 이를 위해 경상남도 지역 일반 고등학교에 재학 중인 장애자녀를 둔 부모를 대상으로 설문
조사를 실시하였다. 그 결과를 보면 부모 중 54% 정도가 전환교육에 대해 ‘어느 정도’ 이상 지식을 가진 것으
로 조사되었다. 자녀가 고등학교를 졸업한 이후에 희망하는 진로를 보면 기업체 취업, 전공과 진학, 전문대 진
학, 직업재활·훈련시설, 보호작업장 취업 순으로 나타났으나, 자녀의 장애 유형에 따라서는 다소 차이가 있었
다. 고교 졸업 후 희망하거나 예상되는 거주형태를 보면 부모나 친척과 거주, 기숙사 거주, 독립생활 순이었다.
전환교육 프로그램의 내용별 필요성의 정도를 보면 10가지 기술영역 모두가 ‘필요하다’고 응답하였으며, 대인
관계기술, 일상생활기술, 의사소통기술이 상대적으로 앞 순위에 있었다. 자녀들의 전환성과 향상을 위해 학교
및 정부에 요구하는 내용을 보면 학교 대상의 경우, 직업교육 시간 증가, 전환교육 관련 부모교육 및 정보제
공 확대, 지역업체 연계 및 현장 실습교육 시간 증가 등이 상대적으로 높은 비중을 차지하였고, 정부 대상의
경우 장애인 일자리 및 취업기회 확대, 전공과 입학인원 증가 및 종류의 다양화, 취업체험 및 연계 기업체 증
가 등이 상대적으로 높은 비율로 나타났다. 본 연구를 통해 나타난 결과는 장애학생들의 전환교육을 담당하는
학교나 특수교육지원센터 및 전환교육지원센터에서의 전환교육 프로그램 계획 및 시행에 반영될 수 있을 것이
며, 관련된 정부기관들의 전환교육 관련 정책이나 교육과정 개발에도 활용될 수 있을 것이다.
영어 초록
The aim of the present study was to investigate parent's perception on transition services, transitionstatus including employment, postsecondary education and community living, necessity on transition
education programs, and needs to improve transition outcomes for students with disabilities in regular high
schools. 315 parents of students with disabilities in Gyeongsang- nam-Do participated for this study and a
survey was used to collect data. The main results were as follows. First, 54% of parents was found to
have knowledge about transition services. Second, in terms of their children's transition status after high
school, parents hoped employment, postsecondary vocational education course, and entrance into junior
colleges in order. Parents also expected their children living with them most, dormitory residence, and
independent living as living status in order. Third, parents answered all skills suggested in transition
education programs were necessary, and among those skills they preferred social skills, independent living
skills, and communication skills more. Fourth, parents asked schools increase of vocational training times
most, parent education for transition services, and more cooperation with local companies for practical
training next in order to improve their children's transition outcomes. Fifth, parents asked government
increase of employment rate for people with disabilities, entrance quota into postsecondary vocational
education course in special schools, and increase of collaboration and connection with local companies for
internship. The results of this study hopefully will be useful for transition education planning and
implementation in schools and transition services support centers, and development of policy and
curriculum for transition services in the related governmental agencies.
