한국어 초록

본 연구의 목적은 제7차 국어 교과서로부터 시작하여 2007년 개정 국어 교과서, 2009 개정 교육과정 총론 시기의 국어 교과서, 그리고 2011년 개정 교과 교육과정에 따른 새 국어 교과서에 이르기까지 초등 국어 교과서의 전반적 개정 양상과 그 변화의 추이를 단원구성 방식에 따른 수업 운영의 측면에서 분석함으로써 초등국어 교과서의 위상에 대한 정체성 탐색과 아울러 조등 국어 교과서가 향후 추진해 나아가야 할 발전적 지향점을 모색함에 있다.
제 7차 교육과정이 공포된 지난 1997년을 기점으로 2013년 현재에 이르기까지 네 차례나 개정의 과정을 겪어온 교육과정의 전반적 흐름을 일별해 보면 대략적으로 ‘창의 인성 융합’ 교육으로 그 특성이 귀납된다는 점, 그리고 그러한 교육의 특성이 반영된 각 시기별 교과서의 변화는 곧 수업 방식의 변화를 수반하기 마련이라는 점에 착안하여 본 연구에서는 단원구성 방식에 따른 수업 운영 방법의 유형을 크게 ‘목표’ 중심, ‘맥락’ 중심, ‘통합’ 중심으로 나누고 각 개정 시기별 초등국어 교과서의 특성을 분석하였다. 그 결과, ‘목표’, ‘맥락’, ‘통합’은 국어 교과서의 단원 구성과 편성뿐만 아니라 수업 설계와 운영의 측면에서도 어느 것 하나 소홀히 다룰 수 없는 필수 조건으로서, 특히 영역 통합형 외형 체제를 고려하여 언어의 총체적 통합 활동을 강조하고 있는 새 국어 교과서의 효율적 운영을 염두에 두고보면 교과서를 창조적으로 재구성하는 교사의 수업 능력이 그 어느 때보다도 절실하게 요청된다는 사실을 확인할 수 있었다.
이에 본 연구에서는 주제 중심의 융합형 교수 학습 방법을 제안하고 이를 교실수업에 실제적으로 적용하기 위해서는 무엇보다도 교사의 교과서 재구성 능력이 요청된다는 가설을 전제로 ‘학년 단원 교과 교사 매체(그림책)’등과 같은 다양한 융합 수업의 가능성을 제시함으로써 주제 중심 수업 구성에서 자칫 간과하기 쉬운 국어 사용 능력 계발이라고 하는 국어과의 교과적 특수성을 놓치지 않으면서도 조화롭게 주제 중심의 프로젝트형 융합 수업을 구안할 수 있다는 사실을 확인할 수 있었다.

영어 초록

The purposes of this study were to investigate the identity of the status of
elementary school Korean textbooks and search for developmental orientations
for the future textbooks by analyzing and putting together the overall revision
patterns and changing progress of the elementary school Korean textbooks
ranging from the Korean textbooks of the Seventh Curriculum through the
revised Korean textbooks of 2007 and the Korean textbooks during the general
period of the Revised Curriculum of 2009 to the new Korean textbooks of the
Revised Curriculum of 2011 especially from the perspective of “teaching and
learning methods according to the unit organization.”
The study examined the overall curricular flow through the four revisions
from 1997 when the Seventh Curriculum was announced to the present 2013
one, finding that their characteristics were in general inducted to “creativity,
personality, and STEAM” education and that textbook changes reflecting those
educational characteristics would be accompanied by changes to the ways that
lessons were given in each period. Recognizing those points, the present study
broadly categorized “the teaching and learning methods according to the unit
organization” into “goal-based, context-based , and integration-based” patterns
and analyzed the characteristics of elementary Korean textbooks in each period.
As a result, “goal,” “context” and “integration” turned out to be essential conditions
that couldn't be treated negligently in unit organization as well as in lesson
planning and management of the Korean textbooks. Especially given the efficient
operation of the new Korean textbooks highlighting the total integration activities
of language by taking the integrated exterior system of areas into account,
teachers are desperately required to have their own teaching ability to reorganize
the textbooks in a creative manner more than ever.
The present study proposed a topic-based STEAM teaching and learning
method, developing a hypothesis that teachers' ability will be needed to reorganize
the textbooks in order to apply this method into the actual elementary
school classroom situations. Based on this hypothesis, the author proposed a
possible instruction paradigm with various STEAM lessons including factors such
as “grade, unit, subject, teacher, and media(picture books)”. By doing this, the
current study proved that developing students' ability to use Korean, which is a
crucial characteristic of Korean as a school subject but possibly can be overlooked
in the organization of topic-based lessons, could be harmoniously achieved
in a topic-based project-typed STEAM lesson.
