본 연구는 모-자 미술치료가 모의 양육태도에 미치는 영향과 아동의 불안 감소에 미치는 효과를 알아보는데 목적을 두었다. 연구대상은 P시 소재 초등학교 5학년(만 10세)으로 불안 증세를 보인 남자 아동과 그 어머니(36세)이며, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15회기는 대상아동의 동생 초등학교 3학년(만 8세)도 함께 참여했다. 회기진행은 비구조화로 주 1회 회기 당 2시간으로 아동은 1시간동안 자유롭게 놀이를 하도록 했으며, 모는 개인상담을 하였다. 나머지 1시간은 모-자 미술치료를 실시하였으며 총 27회기를 진행하였다. 연구도구로 양육태도 검사와 불안검사를 사전, 사후, 추후 실시하여 비교분석하였고, 모-자 미술치료단계에 따른 행동 및 태도를 관찰하여 비교분석하였다. 본 연구결과와 논의를 통해 얻어진 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 모-자 미술치료는 모의 양육태도 변화에 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 모-자 미술치료는 아동의 불안 감소에 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 모-자 미술치료는 모-자 관계에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 모-자 미술치료는 모의 양육태도 개선에 효과적이라고 볼 수 있다.

영어 초록

This study examined if art therapy given to both a mother and her son had any effects on the
mother’s parenting style and on reducing the child’s emotional anxiety. The participants of the study were a boy (10 years old) attending an elementary school in city P and his mother (36 years old). A total of 27 sessions were given to them. Each session was two hours long, one session a week. During the half of each session, which was one hour, the child wasleft playing freely while the mother had a conference with the researcher. The remaining one hour of each session was spent to provide arttherapy to the mother and son. The child’s younger brother (8 years old) also participated in the therapy on the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, and 15th session. The researcher administered a parenting test and anxiety test to the participants in a pre, post, and follow up fashion, and compared the results from the tests. In addition, the researcher observed changes in attitudes and behavior of the participants along the course of the therapy sessions.
First, the study found that art therapy given to both the mother and son caused positive change in the mother’s parenting. Second the son’s emotional anxiety reduced with the therapy sessions. Finally, art therapy given to both the mother and son had a positive influence on the relationship between the mother and son. On the whole, the study showed that art therapy given to boththe mother and son was effective in improving the mother’s parenting style.
