This study is aimed to discuss from the view point of art therapy the deconstruction and the distorted image shown on the figure paintings of Francis Bacon who should be representative and creative painter of England in the 20C.The first thing was focused on the relationship of his own individual growth process and the trend of the times. His growth process, especially in his earliest days when he has been in severe trouble with his father, resulting in running away from home, liberal life and unrestricted affection by this runaway from home, unnatural love, and gambling, were expressed through a lot of figure paintings. And caused by the world war I and II, abominable cruelty and violence of human being, and uneasiness, pain and wrath of every person were also reflected as the background of the times in his paintings.
Secondly, various characteristics of the deconstructed and distorted image that should be representative description technique used in his figure paintings were analyzed. A special feature of soft expression, sensuous touch, and his own specialty to material use certainly enabled him to shape the image with no external dependance on the objects. The images of copies and pictures by using the camera of a new objective viewer were forced to bind in order to describe the states of consciousness and unconsciousness of the moderner.
Thirdly, weirdness of Bacon's figure paintings was owing to description of the pains of each private person and of the times through his deconstructed and distorted figure paintings, and it could be understood as a kind of healing art to recover oneself.
