As I learned in class, superstitions have been with our lives since the beginning of the universe. Korea is not an exception on this matter; it might be worse because it is not a Christian country. I can give hundreds of examples like, eating seaweed soup on a test day, a mirror coming into pieces, asking "Samsin-halmae" for a good child, shaking legs, writing a name with a red pen, and whistling at night. Out of the many, I will write about two most well-known superstitions on dreams and a practice of worshiping gods or spirits.
(수업시간에도 배웠듯이 미신은 세상의 시작과 동시에 우리와 함께 해왔다. 한국도 예외는 아니다. 오히려 기독교 국가가 아니기 때문에 더 심할 지도 모른다. 나는 시험 보는 날에 미역국 먹기, 거울이 깨져 조각나는 것, 삼신할머니에게 좋은 아이를 갖게 해달라는 것, 다리를 떠는 것, 빨간색으로 이름을 쓰는 것, 그리고 밤에 휘파람을 부는 것과 같이 미신에 관한 예를 수 백 개도 들 수 있다. 많은 예들 중에 나는 가장 잘 알려진 꿈에 관한 미신과 우상 숭배에 관해 적어 보도록 하겠다.)
