5. What is "sexual clash of civilization"? Do you think discrimination against women is a global issue?<Sexual clash of civilization>
A civilization is the highest cultural grouping of people and the broadest level of cultural identity. Civilization defined by common objective elements—language, history, religion, customs, institutions, and by the subjective self-identification of people. Clash of civilization is defined as cultural divisions, which acts as a source of potential conflicts, and it caused mainly by the fundamental difference among civilizations. However, it is argued recently that the cultural fault line that divides the West and the Muslim world is not about democracy but sex. Society throughout the world see democracy as the best form of government, however, the value separating the two cultures have much more concerns about gender equality and sexual liberalization. This gap in value reflects the widening economic divide between the West and the Muslim world, because few society can achieve development or compete in a globalizing world if half its people remain marginalized and disempowered. This gap in value and the conflicts it raised is what so-called “Sexual clash of civilization”. It is a deeper issue than how Muslim countries treat women, but also indicate how strongly a society supports principles of tolerance and egalitarianism.
