While European countries can maintain their economic and environmental conditions with great environmental conditions and developed agricultural technology, the situation in developing countries is different. Currently, children in developing countries are suffering from malnutrition (Potrykus, 2003, p. 1) and the yield is getting lower due to climate change such as drought (Paarlberg, 2003, p. 3). Moreover, the food demand is greatly increasing from skyrocketing population rate (Meijer & Stewart, 2004, p. 1). Meijer and Stewart argue that developing countries will need to increase their crop yield over 50% to meet this increasing crop demand. GMOs would be the key role to help the developing countries to escape from this disastrous situation with their various benefits. With the high productivity and low production cost of GMOs, developing countries can expect rapid economic development.참고 자료
