본문내용
1. Glamor and glomorous
In Korea, the meaning of glamor makes us imagine women's big breast and hips. However, the real meaning of glamorous women is just attractive women. Now, glamorous can be understood as beautifully decorated and attractive. In Korea, that glamor designates nice-figured women begins at American entertainment world. In America, a glamour girl means an actress who has little acting power but has a nice body shape. I think the word a glamor girl makes Koreans misunderstand the real meaning. Actually, it is possible that "she is a glamor." is changed with "she's a glamor girl.", but it is not used very well. Rather, "she's got a curvy figure." or "she's got a sharply figure." is used.
2. One shot and bottoms up
One shot that means "empty a glass at one try" may originate from a shot of whisky. In other words, we drink a cocktail a little bit for a long time, but we empty a shot of straight whisky at one try. One shot is derived from that meaning. Actually, one shot is used in some English-speaking world. However, "drink up!" or "bottoms up!" is generally used instead of one shot.
