Hi! My name is Ji Hye Park.
In some case, the music makes us happy but in other case, it makes us sad.
Today, I will introduce a Korean musical instrument to you. It is used for traditional Korean music.
Do you know 꽹과리?
Recently, I went to a performance which is named as pan and produced by Duk Su Kim. The sound that made by several 사물놀이 instruments was so incredible. Between them, the most impressive musical instrument was 꽹과리.
today I will explain to you about 꽹과리.
It is brazen and striking musical instrument with round shape.
Korean ancestor believe that the sound of 꽹과리 makes the god descent from heaven and turns minor demons out from the place. Moreover, they used this musical instrument for a religious service, exocism and when they doing farm work diligently for adding to the amusement.
And then It has a leader position in 사물놀이(the Korean traditional percussion quartet"Samul-nori").
