Abstract
It is mostly the strain gage to measure stress in the structural test. Strain gage is attached on the region considered as the weak part to measure stress, strain and the analysis can be used for the stable design. With regard to this fact, measuring elastic modulus and Poisson’s ratio, understanding the working principle of the strain gage and the behavior of Aluminum alloy 6061 under tension load are the purpose of this experiment. Elastic modulus and Poisson’s ratio from least-square method with true stress-stain which is calculated by engineering stress-strain are about 75.19GPa, 0.341 in up-loading and 76.74GPa, 0.339 in down-loading while theoretical values are each 69Gpa and 0.33. The reasons of gaps generated between the two values are caused by hardening with attaching the strain gage to surface of specimen, stress-relaxation which is due to rearrangements in the material monitored as a function of time and strain hardening is caused by many reasons.
