본문내용

Much of the imagery used in Robert Frost's "After Apple-Picking" supports the idea that "apple-picking" stands for "poetry writing." The "sleep" of the speaker suggests the status of a poet after having finished his work, and he would not finish it or fall asleep until he had picked a great deal of "apples," which can be considered as symbolic of a vast range of vocabulary among which the poet has explored and selected, or of an act of editing and rearranging them.
