1. Definition of Leadership
Leadership is the capacity to turn vision into reality by influencing people`s thoughts and actions.
This definition contains a purpose of leadership, which is to turn vision into reality, and a method of leadership, which is influencing people`s thoughts and actions.
The two most important keywords of leadership are vision and influence.
Vision shows people where they should go. Influence makes people voluntarily follow you.
Both vision and influence involve people. So, understanding human beings are the first step to learn leadership.
2. Understanding Human Beings
Leadership involves dealing with people, and it should include selection of the right people. With the wrong people in the organization, it is impossible to make the organization great.
So, if you want to be an effective leader, first, be a good person, and then develop an eye to distinguish between the right and wrong people. To do so, you need to have a clear understanding of human nature.
