Ⅰ. Introduction
This is a study on changes in English sentential negations from Old English (450-1100) to the Present Day English (1800- ). Negations in this paper are defined as sentential negations. Study on negations accompanies many syntactic and lexical issues such as a word order, a verbal status, and auxiliaries. Among many points of issue, I will focus on explaining historical changes in each period of English and tracing the history of multiple negations in English.

III. Conclusion
Negative markers in English has changed along the history of English and this paper was aim to understand that transformation using the hypothesis of “Jespersen’s cycle.” As “Jespersen’s cycle” imply, a negative marker in English has repeated its emerging, weakening and extermination. Moreover, we defined Negative Concord and traced back its origin. Consistent examples in this paper indicate that Negative Concord was in constant use from Old English down to and during Late Middle English or Early Modern English. Negative Concord has gradually disappeared from standard written English in the first half of the seventeenth century , but we still can find its trace in some non-standard forms of English.
