Discussion:
In this experiment, we were able to synthesize Grignard reagents through Grignard reaction of magnesium and bromobenzene. Also, triphenylcarbinol is synthesized through a reaction of benzophenone and HCl with the Grignard reagent synthesized previously. We were able to determine whether the product is triphenylcarbinol or not by comparing the m.p. of the product and triphenylcarbinol.
