본문내용
“My life had stood – a Loaded Gun” by Emily Dickinson is a short poem of twenty-four lines divided into six stanzas. This poem is written in the first-person point of view of a speaker who compares her life to a loaded gun. First stanza explicitly suggests the major subjects, “The Owner” (3) and “Me” (4). Emily Dickinson capitalizes these two words and it makes readers focus unwittingly on the relationship of these two. There are many speculations on the relationship, such as ‘God – believer’, ‘male – obedient female’, and ‘Emily Dickinson herself – language’. Answers doesn’t exist, but I found ‘god – believer’ as the most persuasive.
