Thanks to well-developed language, it is true that many people can easily communicate and discuss critically. From the beginning of historical era, people have expressed and developed critical thinking step-by-step. However, Jacobson-Tepfer (2013) found it may also have been possible to express critical thinking process in the prehistorical period, even though prehistoric people did not have well-developed language. It has been suggested that this type of creation can be found in the Bangudae petroglyphs from linguistics perspective. (Lee, 2014)The introduction part of this essay will look over the definition of petroglyph briefly to help understanding. Petroglyph is an illustration as a type of rock art and its drawings are carved on rock surfaces according to the Oxford English Dictionary. The origin of the word “petro-” is a stone and “-glyph” is a carving. Consequently, the Bangudae petroglyph is the carved rock art located in Ulsan, Korea.
