Water is one of the most precious and valuable resources on our planet. It plays a vital role in life and is essential to human beings. The Earth is about 70% covered by water but from that substantial amount, only about 2% is fresh, clean water. Even then, just 1 percent of our freshwater is easily accessible, with much of it trapped in glaciers and snowfields. All though we only have that tiny amount for the whole world, people in developed countries do not even think twice about what a privilege it is to have clean water. They think of it as a given and take it for granted. If the amount of freshwater was equally distributed among everyone, there would be more than enough to go around. However, this is not the case and millions of people end up dying every year due to problems regarding lack of water, poor sanitation, and hygiene. In my personal opinion, all the sustainable development goals are very important but this one in particular is a goal that must be achieved no matter what. Human beings cannot survive even a few days without water.
