In 2008, due to distressed-dept and unconsidered sales of derivative products, lots of big investment banks were bankrupted in a row and it led to global financial crisis. Because of this matter, not only United States but the entire world suffered from economic recession and United States looked for solutions for this circumstances. As United States could not boost the economy since the rate of interest was close to zero, it chose to regulate long-term interest rate by controlling the amount of money in circulation. This is called quantitative easing(QE). Quantitative easing is the policy which the central bank release money on the market to stimulate the economy when the interest rate is extremely low, so it provides flexibility to the market by purchasing variety of financial assets such as government bonds.
