We assume the simple digital communication systems as shown in figure 2-1. is sampled voice signal with sampling frequency 8㎑ (f.mat). The sampled signal is quantized and encoded to binary digits. Pulse shaping and modulation scheme is applied to the PCM signal and then modulated signal is transmitted through AWGN channel. Received signal is demodulated, detected and decoded. (, , ))
Various modulation schemes can be adopted for the following communication system. Our main purpose is to compare two available modulation schemes (FSK, QPSK). In each modulation scheme carrier frequency is assumed to be 1㎒.
Addictive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) is assumed to the background noise in channel. Then the received signal, can be modeled as
where is Gaussian with mean zero and power spectral density (PSD) .
