Introduction
I have read the bible only once from beginning to ending. Of course, I have tried reading again several times; however, every time I tried reading from the Pentateuch, I couldn’t finish it beyond the first book of the kings. Therefore, I am familiar with the first five books of the bible; Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy.

the Book of Exodus. I like the Book of Exodus because it is exciting, historical and especially very meaningful. When I was young, I read the novel Ramses which was one of bestsellers in the year. One day, I had a chance to watch the movie, the Ten Commandments. Watching the movie, I was very surprised by the fact that Moses is Ramses’ brother in law and they have lived in same historic period. Therefore, the Book of Exodus is suitable enough to write about for me in this term paper.
Brief Summary
The Book of Exodus is the second book of the Old Testament. If the Book of Genesis is about the beginning of the world and human history, the Book of Exodus may be likened to an origin of the Israelites. According to Reading the Old Testament, the Book of Exodus is classified five important events; 1) Moses’ birth and early life as an Egyptian prince, 2) ten plagues and the Passover, 3) escape from Egypt and wilderness of Sinai, 4) the covenant and laws, and 5) the Ark of the Covenant (164). The Book of Exodus begins after Joseph and his generation died. As foretold in Genesis 15:13; “…they will be enslaved and oppressed four hundred years”, a new Egyptian king who don’t know Joseph arises and starts afflicting the Israelites (the Bible).
