본문내용
There are so many Buddhism art objects around us resulting that I have met a lot of them since young. Because Korea is located near form China, Korea has been affected by China in many aspects. Especially, I want to investigate 2 Buddhist statues in Three-Kingdom period when Buddhism is popular.
서산마애삼존불상, a national treasure no. 48, is well-known as ‘Smile of Paekche’. The Buddhist statuses’ face in Paekche is soft and benign, also they show refined figure that is distinctive feature compared with dynamic and active form in Koguryo or stable form in Silla.
First of all, its arrangement is distinctive. This arrangement is rare in China and India. Putting 반가사유상 in left and 보살입상 in right from statue is a distinguished feature of Paekche.
Secondly, many statues were created on a cliff of stone such as 서산마애불 and 태안마애불. That trend represents naturalism of Paekche. That makes people in Paekche creates 마애불 on a cliff of stone..
