This study aimed to explore the effect size of previous studies that revealed the relationships amongdiverse variables on school violence at the elementary school level. In order to attain the above purpose, a
meta-analysis was executed on the 49 previous studies that contained specific correlation values among
diverse variables on school violence. The result of meta-analysis indicates that the previously explored
variables can be categorized into school violence causing variables and school violence suppressing variables.
In addition, each category is composed of individual/psychological factors, family factors, school factors, and
peer factors. The total effect size of school violence causing variables was moderate (ES=.228). Among the
school violence causing factors, aggression(ES=.344), stress(ES=.282), expectant attitude(ES=.291), moral
disengagement(ES=.280), and negative teacher relationship(ES=.264) have considerable effect size. The total
effect size of school violence suppressing variables was little bit small(ES=-.136). Sense of community
(ES=-.335), social support(ES=-.252), and school life adaptation(ES=-.233) have high and moderate effect
size among school violence suppressing variables. The results of this meta-analysis could enhance our
understandings about important factors that could provoke or suppress school violence at the elementary
school level. It also leads us to design more effective school violence intervention program.
