This study was performed to analyze pre-service kindergarten teachers' perceptionand requests on production and application of instructional media in practice teaching.
235 pre-service kindergarten teachers were surveyed on the issues and 8 of them
were interviewed for further investigation.
The results of the study are the following:
The pre-service kindergarten teachers used photos most frequently for their
instruction. They made an average of 6-8 instructional media for their practice
teaching. They searched internet sites to gather information on instructional media for
certain subjects. They thought that they were capable of producing and applying
instructional media in kindergarten classroom settings. They recognized the necessity
and positive effects of instructional media. They considered the purpose of education,
developmental appropriateness, attractiveness, durability, and easiness of storage when
they prepared instructional media.
The pre-service teachers had difficulties with the production and application of
instructional media. The difficulties were the lack of preparation time, too much
expense, insufficient knowledge, difficulty in finding appropriate instructional media,
and lack of directors' or supervising teachers' support. They made some suggestions
for improvement. They wanted enough time to prepare instructional media, financial
support, and more information on instructional media.
