The purpose of this study was to gain a perspective if art museum-school relationships by investigating both the way art museums serve schools and the response of schools to art museum services. A survey study was designed to obtain information about art museum resources and programs offered to school: school districts’ use of museum services the participation of school programs: the provision of teacher materials, workshops, and pre-or post-museum activity; the existence of relationships between art museums and school districts: and curricular links with school art education instruction.The results indicated that a majority of the sample reported relationships with schools that were perceived relationships with schools that were perceived as successful and effective: Most art museums offered an array of resources, programs, and services to schools. The results also showed that while school districts respond to art museum services, they could take greater advantage of this resource. Additionally, few school professionals, including art teachers, participated in the activities of the art museum of teacher workshops. Soth the size of art museum and the interaction between art museums and schools were found to be factors in art museum-school relation-ships.
