미래! - 모름지기 우리 人間은 더 나은 “미래”에 대한 “비젼” 또는 “이상”을 안고, 그 이상을 현실로 구현하기 위해 끊임없이 오늘들을 조각해 가고 있다고 해도 과언이 아니다. 마치 조각가가 자신의 이상의 여인상을 구현하기 위해 한뼘 한뼘 조각해 나가듯이…… 조각가는 자신의 이상을 구현하기 위해 실제 조가에 앞서, 머릿속에 이상의 형상을 구체화시키는작업을 먼저 할 것이다. 눈을 감고 깊은 사색에 잠기든지, 바다나 산을 찾아 자연 속에서 문득 섬광처럼 스치는 어떤 예시를 받을 수도 있겠고, 조용한 음악의 선율 속에서 이상의 여인의 모습을 그려볼 수 있겠다. 이런 일련의 사고와 반추의 과정을 거쳐서 전체적인 윤곽이서면 그를 좀 더 구체적인 모습으로 가령, 얼굴표정, 팔의 동작, 전체적인 분위기 등등 여러방향에서 디자인을 할 것이고 그 스케치는 머릿속의 이상과 근접할 때까지 여러 번 수정 작업을 거치게 될 것이다. 일단 디자인이 끝나면 그 이상이 가장 잘 표현될 수 있는 재질을선정할 것이다. 이때 이상의 여인이 갖고 있는 섬세한 선을 표현하면서도 동시에 독특한 분위기를 잘 살리려면 어떤 질감의 재료가 가장 적합한 것일까 등을 구체적으로 생각하여 선정할 것이다. 그리고 나서야 비로소 조각가는 디자인된 스케치에 따라 이상의 여인의 형상을 조각하는 작업을 시작할 것이다.만약 이 조각가가 자신의 이상형이 머릿속에 분명히 그려지지 않은 채, 대충 윤곽만 잡은후, 그 이상형의 이미지와 재질과의 관계를 깊이 고려하지 않은 채, 한참 유행의 조류를 타고 있는 소위 첨단 자료를 활용해서 조각을 시작했다고 하자. 이 경우 십중팔구 그는 조각을 하는 과정에서 수없이 디자인을 다시 하거나 재질이 부적합하여 새로운 재질로 바꾸거나할 것이며, 그러느라 많은 시간과 재료가 낭비될지 모른다. 물론 추상 예술 作品의 창출이목적이므로 오히려 이런 과정 속에서 새로운 영감이 떠올라 엉뚱하게 처음에 의도하지 않았던 전혀 다른 모습을 조각하게 되어도 이에 만족할 수 있을지 모른다. 그러나 만약에 그가건축가로서 어떤 한 가족을 위해 집을 지어 주기로 했다면 문제는 심각해진다. 가령, 이 건축가가, 그 가족의 직업, 연령, 취미, 인생관, 가족구성원, 가족수, 경제수준, 주위 환경 등등의 건축 설계와 밀접한 관련을 맺는 다양한 변수를 잘 파악하지 않은 채 적당히 고객과 이야기한 후 대충 어떤 모습의 주택의 형태가 좋은지 알 것 같아서, 건축을 시작했다고 하자.한참 집을 짓기 시작한 후 고객이 와서 보고 자신이 이상으로 하던 그런 집과는 거리가 먼형태로 지어지고 있음에 놀라서 항의를 했다고 하자. 불행히도 건축가와 집주인의 이상형의주택간에 상당한 격차가 있음을 뒤늦게 발견한 것이다. 이미, 건축가를 비롯한 많은 이들의시간과 노력과 많은 건축자재가 잘못 쓰여진 후에… 이렇게 해서 건축가가 고객을 위해서실현해 보고자 하던 이상도, 미래의 자신의 집과 생활에 대해서 나름대로 꿈꾸던 집주인의이상도 허물어지고 말 것이다.

영어 초록

The objectives of the study are to clarify the role of "education" in the future society,to identify appropriate strategy and method for future education and finally search forthe way to use advanced technology to carry out the role and the s trategy. In order toprepare and lead the future society, the firs t thing to do in education is to create andclarify the vision or image for future education. Traditionally, the role of education wasrather pas s ive in that it transmits exis ting knowledge to the new generation and nurturethe cultural heritage. However, in future society, education should be able to lead socialchange and its evolution by providing vision and mechanism to change, and by evolvingand changing together with the res t of society in harmony.Future society will bring many changes which require "change in the paradigm" inevery aspect of society, including education. T he educational paradigm shift shouldaddres s the change of traditional role and relationship of s tudents and teachers , andconcept of education. In traditional s chool context, teachers were in control and mainactors while s tudents remain as pas s ive receivers of "educational content". T his doesn' tallow much opportunities for s tudent to grow as an independent thinker, problem solver,cooperative team worker and creative actor. Future paradigm shift focus es on s tudent' sactive role, by controling and being respons ible for his /her own learning while teachersplay role of faciliator, motivator, advisor and manager of the learning environment.T rue paradigm shift should result in the trans form of education from theteacher- centered, rote memory- based teaching to the s tudent- centered, exploratorybased,problem solving and creative thinking focused participatory learning. In achievingthis trans formation, and thus realizing the vis ion of future education, new advancedtechnology can play a meaningful role.In this s tudy, advanced technology including computers is reviewed in relation toparadigm shift aspects . Especially, different ways of computer use to facilitate variousnew learning s trategies such as discovery learning, indivisualized or cooperative learning,creative thinking, and dis cus s ion is reviewed. Future clas s room should be more andmore geared to multi- media environment, where s tudents can experience and exploredifferent aspects of life in reality or virtual reality.T his type of advanced- technology mediated multi- media environment is usuallyproblem and context- oriented. T eachers ' role is vital for the succes s of the new learningenvironment. T hey should be pos itive force to s tudent' s learning and thus extend andupgrade it. In short, this sort of new learning environment is not analytical ors tep- by- s tep proces s but more of a wholis tic and comprehens ive ones .Educators should be able to lead the change by providing the blueprint vis ion aboutwhat the future education and/or schools should look like, they need to focus oncreating this sort of future- oriented learning environment to achieve our vis ion. Withoutthis leading force, there will be no change. With new vis ion and leadership the potentialof the advanced technology can be realized in the shift of educational paradigm in futureschools .
