The TV dramas "Lovers in Paris" and "My Lovely Sam-soon" enjoyed a lot of popularity and attention. They are basically Cinderella stories. But the main female characters in them were more independent and active than in other cinderella stories. Thanks to the distinctive characters and settings of the dramas, the TV audience could enjoy diverse amusements.
Many unique characters appear in the two dramas. The two main female characters Kang Tae-young and Kim Sam-soon aren`t so attractive, but they fall in love with able and handsome men. They have differences as well. Kang Tae-young has a dream of becoming a film director but lacks the ability. She is passive and careless. On the other hand, Kim Sam-soon, a competent patissier, is very active and confident about everything. As for male heroes, Han Ki-ju and Hyun Jin-heon come from rich families. They are capable and good-looking. Good-mannered Han Ki-ju in Lovers in Paris is divorced and continues to love only one woman, while Hyun Jin-heon in My Lovely Kim Sam-soon is younger than Kim Sam-soon and torn between his ex-girlfriend and Sam-soon. Yun Soo-hyuk and You Hee-jin are characters that plant the seeds of conflict in the dramas. They have good looks and capabilities in common. They also try to win the love of the main characters unsuccessfully. As for differences, Yun Soo-hyuk, Han Ki-ju`s half brother, loves Kang Tae-young, but his love isn`t returned. Hyun Jin-heon`s ex-girlfriend You Hee-jin falls in love with Henry Kim in the end.
