Abstract
In this experiment, H2[(p-CN)4TPP] (1) was synthesized from pyrrole and p-cyanobenzaldehyde by Alder method. Thereafter, nickel(II) metalation of 1 was induced to gain Ni[(p-CN)4TPP] (2). Purity of 1 and 2 was analyzed by UV-Vis and 1H-NMR. In addition, through NMR titration of 2 using pyridine-d5, the associative constants (Ka) of 2 and pyridine were analyzed and the change in spin state was observed.
Introduction
A representative example of macrocyclic ligand widely used in vivo is porphyrin. Porphyrin chelates with 4 nitrogen atoms in square-planar geometry and heme, which binds to Fe to store and transport O2, is the prominent example.
