Joe Keller who shot himself at the end of the play thought of his family during his life. Kate Keller who is the wife of Joe Keller also thought of his son Larry for three years. Those two people placed his family ahead from the others. Joe Keller said in the drama that “Well, that’s what a war does. I had two sons, now I got one. It changed all the tallies” What Mr. Keller did throughout the drama is that he shifts responsibility from him to other things. At the court for a cylinder case, he might say that he didn’t have a responsibility about it because he had been at home for flu. He sent Mr. Deever who is father of Ann to prison instead of him. He told to Ann that “Result? Fourteen months later I had one of the best shops in the state again, a respected man again; bigger than ever.” It seems that he didn’t feel any guilty on the affairs not related to his family. Kate Keller also missed his son.
