Genetic DNA is well known as a database of genetic sequences that translate into various proteins which consist whole body. Since long while ago, scientists noticed the presence of database, yet didn’t know which form contains information and how. One day, Watson and Crick figured out general form of DNA helical structure through X-ray crystallography. In the historical picture, one can apparently see the linking and twisting structure of double helix. In the modern era, scientists can electrically see the chemical structure of DNA. Two complementary strands are linked with base bridges (A,T,G,C) through hydrogen bonds. The skeletal structure are build by pentose sugar and phosphate. Since DNA has unique structure, twisted and writhed structure, scientists must figure out the mystery of DNA’s physical features.
DNA either can be supercoiled or released by outer forces. In the bio-engineering, one must control DNA precisely in order to complete the work. In the experiments, gel electrophoresis and model experiment were conducted to understand the physical and mathematical principles that govern the DNA structure.
