Harold Creek, an Internal Revenue Service employee who lived a monotonous and repetitive life. One day he starts hearing the voice of a British woman speaking in his head and describing every one of his actions. He thinks he's being chased by a woman's voice.
And one day evening, he is told by his boss to take a break for showing strange behavior. On the way home, Harold's watch stops working and he resets it. And then the voice says: "He had little knowledge that this simple, seemingly harmless act would soon lead to death." Angry Harold returns home and expresses his anger.
And Harold, who was worried about this prediction, turns to a psychiatrist who blames the voice for schizophrenia.When asked what he would advise if he were not schizophrenic, the psychiatrist suggests Harold turn into a literary expert. So Harold visits Jules Hilbert (Durbin Hoffman), a university professor, to relate his story.
