Michael Porter’s Generic Competitive Strategies includes a differentiation strategy, which is “creating a unique and sustainable competitive position” and “differentiating with a unique selling/value position”.
We will apply this differential strategy for Lyft and explain in later slides.
The Differential Strategy includes the following 4 steps:
Identify competitors
Identify what customers value
Assess rank compared to the competitors for each dimension of factor that customers might value
Make how you stand out your unique selling/value proposition and make sure the organization does it can to protect that position
