According to the data shown in 2019 from Eugene Investment & Securities Co, market of garment care machine is rapidly growing recently. The market size is estimated to grow from 150,000 units a year in 2017 to 450,000 units in 2019.

After eight years of R&D, LG Electronics opened up the garment care machine market in South Korea as first-mover under the product named ‘LG TROMM Styler(abbreviated as Styler below).’ The market existed as a monopoly of Styler from 2011 to mid-2018. This could be explained in two terms, demand and supply. In terms of demand, there was a lack of recognition of demand for garment management devices among market consumers. As it was first launched, it belonged to luxury goods, not necessity. In terms of supply, as LG Electronics, the first mover of the market, retained more than 200 patents for related core technologies, other companies faced patent issue, requiring long R&D.
