Iron, zinc and vitamin A are the most common micronutrients which could be affected in eating disroders. The most common reason for Iron deficiency is insufficient iron intake from food. Sypmtoms of iron deficiency range from fatigue and inability to concentrate to impaired physical and congnitive development of childredn. Food sources of Iron are breads and cereals, dark green vegetables, egg yolk, dried fruits, liver and meat.
Low intake of meat and fish increase the risk of zinc deficiency. The health consequences of zinc deficiency include poor immune system function, growth retardation. Food sources of zinc are eggs, leafy vegetables, meats and protein-rich foods.
Viatamin A is fat-soluble vitamins in essential nutrition to human health. It contribute to functioning of the retina, the growth of bone and the immune response. Beta-carotene is a precursor of vitamin A found in fruits and vegetables such as green or orange vegetables (carrot).
