HOW evian® CAME TO BE ?
In 1789, The Marquis de Lessert, a distinguished nobleman from neighboring Auvergne, France decided to seek relief of his kidney problems. He regularly strolled in the nearby town of Evian and one day sampled the water which ran from a spring on the property of Monsieur Cachat. He found the water “light and easily passed” and was determined to drink it regularly. It cured him, and the news spread. Specialists made their analyses and gave their approval. Crowds began to gather to sample the effects. Encouraged by Lessert’s advocacy of the ‘miraculous’ water, local doctors began to prescribe it as a health remedy thus began a fascinating history that continues to this day.
